( PSP) Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (review) It might not be what Luminous Arc fans wanted, but it’s fun all the same.ħ. It’s a very straightforward strategy game with a harem focus, but there’s a tonne of tactical options here and a bevy of out-of-combat gameplay to keep you entertained.

It feels a strange oversight that this one never made it west given it was published by Marvelous (who own XSEED Games in the west), but don’t let that put you off importing and enjoying this one. ( Import) Luminous Arc Infinity ( review) Grow colonies of seedling spaceships and capture territory while defending your home base, it has all the basics you’d expect but with a gorgeous aesthetic and relaxed feel (that is truly deceptive as this is one of the most stressful titles I’ve played!).Ħ. RTS games rarely work on consoles and there’s even fewer examples of successes on handheld, but Eufloria throws all that out of the window to make for an absolutely mesmerising experience. It won’t be for everyone but I absolutely love this game. All the traditional 4x gameplay is in tact allowing you to forge alliances with other factions or obliterate them, but it’s made more accessible for a handheld audience while being perfect to play in short bursts. While the vanilla version is available on mobile, this Plus port is exclusive to Vita and is easily the definitive version of the game. ( Exclusive) Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution 2 Plus ( review) The combat is fast and fluid, taking a leaf out of the Valkyria Chronicles book but adding fantastic chain mechanics, while the plot is incredibly engaging too. Hands down the biggest surprise in Vita’s library for me, Lost Dimension casts you as the leader of a squad with superhuman powers who must battle through a tower to defeat a terrorist, seeking out the traitors in the ranks of his squad along the way. Some unique mechanics like team-based boosts activated by kissing are handled well too, making for an all-round solid package. This follows every genre convention in the book from grid-based movement to character-based levelling and growth, except mixed in with the loveable cast of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series.

Sometimes, tradition is best with games and that’s very much the case with Hyperdevotion Noire. ( #2) Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart ( review) It’s challenging, exciting and this expanded Vita port makes the experience even better.Ģ.

The blend of real-time and turn-based tactics in Frozen Synapse is unlike anything I’ve played before, asking you to plan out your moves for every unit in advance before watching them play out in front of you while the enemy team does the same.
